Joe Biden will miss out on the coronation of King Charles III. The ceremony will take place in early May, but reports suggest that the United States president will not be in attendance.
Despite planning to travel to Northern Ireland next month, Biden is expected to return to the US just days before King Charles arrives to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
According to reports, Biden will ask either first lady Jill or vice president Kamala Harris to attend the coronation on May 6.
“We think the representative will be the first lady or the vice president,” a source told the Daily Mail. “For the Queen, it was the Governor of California and the U.S. Army chief of staff.”
According to The Daily, Dame Karen Pierce, the British ambassador to the US, and Buckingham Palace officials had been involved in “cordial and diplomatic” talks with the US government to organize the delegation.
