A 17-year-old boy has been stabbed to death outside a UK primary school in the east of London.

The teenager was found injured Monday just after 9pm on Longshaw Road in Chingford, close to Longshaw Primary School.

Members of the public alerted the emergency services who tried to save his life, with paramedics and an air ambulance attending.

However, the boy later died at the scene, despite the best efforts of paramedics and an air ambulance.

His next of kin have been informed.

The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation into the incident, but no arrests have been made.

Chief Superintendent Simon Crick, local policing commander for north-east London, said: ‘My thoughts are with the victim’s family at this incredibly difficult time. Incidents such as this have a devastating impact on families, friends and our local communities.

‘We have a dedicated team of detectives working on the investigation. They have been at the scene overnight and will remain there today as they carry out further enquiries.

‘This work is being supported by additional local patrols who are there to respond to any concerns within the community.’
