Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President-elect, returned to the country on Monday evening after about a month trip to Paris, France, assuring Nigerians that he has rested and is poised for the huge challenge ahead.
He also dismissed the rumour mills surrounding his state of health; saying that he is very strong.
Quoting the President-elect, Tunde Rahman, his media aide, said that Asiwaju told the crowd of supporters that gathered at his Asokoro Residence that he is strong and happy to be back.
“I’m happy to be back. I have rested, I’m refreshed and I’m ready for the task ahead. Forget about what the rumour mill may have told you. I’m strong, very strong.”
Asked about his plans for the country, he said he had been consulting and planning with a view to putting together a strong team so he could hit the ground running once he assumes office on May 29.
Earlier at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport where he was received by a sizeable crowd of close associates and supporters Tinubu who was in the company of his wife, Senator Remi and son, Seyi enthusiastically waved at Nigerians as made waiting for vehicles.
His failure to address members of the media after his one-month absence did not go unnoticed as some expressed disappointment in having to come over forty kilometers without getting near their president-elect.
Disappointments were equally expressed at the APC Campaign Office in the Central Area and Defense Guest House, Abuja, the two locations where enthusiastic supporters had gathered to receive the president-elect but had to disperse after hours of fruitless waiting.
