Priyanka Chopra, 40, has revealed that she ‘put a stop’ early on in her romance with her now husband, Nick Jonas, 30.
The reason for this was their 10-year age gap which was unsettling to her.
During an interview for Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, she recalled how mutual friends urged her and the Jonas Brothers star to meet in 2016.
Despite exchanging some messages via social media, Priyanka was initially hesitant to go on a date with Nick due to him being a decade young than her.
“I was at the end of my last long relationship before Nick. I didn’t want to engage as much at the time. I was also like 35, and Nick was 25. I really put a stop to it in a way because I judged the book by its cover,” she says.
Priyanka says she wanted to settle down because she had “been there, done that”. She shared with Dax that she was still reluctant to enter another relationship because she worried about making the same dating ‘mistakes’ again.
The actor joked that she was ready to get serious but didn’t realize that her husband is a 70-year-old man stuck in a 30-year-old’s body.
“I kept making the same mistakes. A lot of the pattern in my relationships was me feeling gaslit because I gave that kind of power to the people that I was with, where I was like, ‘You come first’.”
