Ed Sheeran breaks down in tears discussing wife Cherry’s health issues

Ed Sheeran, 32, first got emotional for his upcoming Disney documentary series The Sum Of It All, following the death of ‘best friend’ Jamal Edwards.

In one clip, Sheeran is seen breaking down in a car as the trailer switches focus on SBTV founder Edwards, who tragically died aged 31 last February.

Sheeran is heard in the trailer crediting Edwards for helping him launch his career as he opens up about the loss of his close friend.

He then discusses the health issues of his wife Cherry Seaborn, with whom he shares two daughters – Lyra, 2, and Jupiter, 10 months – was pregnant with the latter, she developed a tumor with ‘no route to treatment until after the birth.’

‘Loss: it just took over my life,’ Sheeran says. ‘Cherry’s health, it was really bad. And then suddenly, my best friend Jamal dies.’

Sheeran recently revealed that his wife was diagnosed with a tumour during the pregnancy of their second child last year, around the time of Edwards’ death.

In announcing his upcoming album Subtract earlier this month, the Shape of You singer said he ‘spiralled through fear, depression and anxiety’ at the time.

Sheeran adds in the documentary series trailer: ‘Every time something massive happens, I tend to write a song about it.’

The Sum Of It All is released on Disney+ on May 3.

Sheeran previously shared on social media that his wife’s health scare, the loss of his friend and legal issues affected the release of his upcoming album, Subtract.

‘A series of events changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I viewed music and art … within the space of a month,’ he wrote earlier this month.
