Breast cancer survivor Sharon Stone ‘lost HALF her fortune’ in recent banking crisis

Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone, 65, has revealed she lost half her money worths a reported $60 million (£50m) in the recent banking crisis.

The Hollywood star who is a breast cancer survivor revealed her misfortune during a fundraising gala for a cancer charity in the US last week where she received the Courage Award at a fundraiser for the Women’s Cancer Research Fund.

The Hollywood reporter said this at one point during her speech, and also asked the crowd to donate money to the WCRF.

‘I know that thing that you have to get on and figure out how to text the money is difficult,’ she said, presumably talking about the technical aspects of making a donation.

‘I’m a technical idiot, but I can write a fucking check.

‘And right now, that’s courage, too, because I know what’s happening. I just lost half my money to this banking thing, and that doesn’t mean that I’m not here.’

Although Sharon says she has lost half her fortune, the US Federal Reserve have stepped in to guarantee all deposits held at the two banks are safe.

Recently, two US banks were shut down by bank regulators a few weeks ago in one of the biggest financial failures in American history – Signature Bank and Silicon Valley Bank in the US both collapsed.

It is still not clear which bank the actress lost her money with.

The bank collapses are the largest failures in US history after the Washington Mutual Bank folder during the 2008 financial crisis.

Although Sharon says she has lost half her fortune, the US Federal Reserve have stepped in to guarantee all deposits held at the two banks are safe.

Sharon suffered a near-fatal stroke at the age of just 43 in 2001 and had a tumour removed from her breast after initially being misdiagnosed with cancer.

A plastic surgeon gave her larger breast implants without her consent or knowledge when she was undergoing reconstruction surgery.
