Everyone loves a good movie, but some of us are real fans of adventure, science fiction and even horror movies. Any movie outside the ones where we see human beings often requires wearing a costume, and most of our famous stars have openly confessed to not enjoying those costumes. For some movies, makeup and costume can take hours, and make the stars in them highly uncomfortable during filming.
The list is endless, and some have even suffered permanent damage to parts of their bodies as a result of the costume they had to wear on set and how long they wore such costumes. For this reason particularly, it is not a surprise that actors and actresses hated having to dress up for movie roles that would take hours everyday for months, and even years.
Orlando Bloom – Legolas
The Lord of the rings trilogy is one of the best epic movies ever made. One of several fans favourite is Legolas the elf, played by Orlando Bloom. For the role, he had to dress up like an elf, and that meant wigs, pointy ears and contact lenses.
In order to look the part, Bloom had to wear blue contact lenses over his brown eyes, and this affected him afterwards. The contacts ended up damaging Bloom’s eyes and he ended up wearing them for only short periods of time when filming.
Scarlett Johansson – Black Widow
The Black widow of the Marvel series played by sensational actress Scarlett Johansson is one that will not be forgotten by fans in a hurry. However, you may not know that Johansson hated the costume and having to wear it because it was skin tight.
The Black Widow costume was so tight, hot and restricting that Johansson did not wear underwear with it. It may look like an easy costume to wear, but Johansson reported having hallucinations after wearing the costume for a long fight scene.
While some of her colleagues like Chris Hemsworth had to wear a small air conditioner under his Thor costume, Johansson could not, and would sweat so much in her Black Widow costume.
Jennifer Lawrence- Mystique
The unforgettable blue character with red hair of the X-men movies have been played by two stars. Although Rebecca Romijn has yet to explain what it was like for her, Jennifer Lawrence has explained how hard it was to play mystique in the last couple of X-men movies.
The Mystique costume was a combination of prosthetics and body paint, and Lawrence has explained how uncomfortable it was. The while process took about 6 hours, and was restrictive as well. For one thing, using the bathroom was a huge problem for Lawrence because she could not sit down. Instead, she would do her business while standing, with the use of a small funnel.
