A young mother has been caught driving with an eight-year-old child with methamphetamines in her system, according to UK daily.

Monique Jane Mitchell, 26, was apprehended by police while driving with the youth at Mount Gambier in South Australia in November.

The P-Plater faced a similar drug-driving charge in 2019 and lost her driver’s license for six months.

Monique Jane Mitchell (pictured), 26, was apprehended by police while driving with the youth at Mount Gambier in South Australia last November.

Mitchell has now been handed a tougher 12-month license suspension and a $1,100 fine for the misdemeanor, Adelaide Now reported.

The Mount Gambier woman admitted to officers that she had taken MDMA pills this weekend, a police prosecutor told the court.

She pleaded guilty to driving under the influence with a child under the age of 16 and violating a condition of her provisional driver’s license.

The South Australian government has recently upped the ante giving police more powers to take a licence away from anyone testing positive to drugs while driving.
