Harry Styles, the 29-year-old performer who beat Beyoncé in the Album of the Year category to the top prize at Sunday night’s 65th Grammy awards in Los Angeles was heckled by Beyoncé‘s followers.

Her followers could be heard yelling at Styles as he took to the stage to collect the gong and give an emotional speech.

One fan could be heard yelling at the former One Direction singer: ‘Beyoncé should have won’, while her name was also shouted as Harry thanked his collaborators and the Grammys judges for giving him the award for his 2022 ‘Harry’s House’ record.

As Harry continued with his speech, the same heckler could again be heard repeating Beyoncé ‘should have won’.

Harry Styles, 29, was mercilessly heckled after being honoured with the coveted Album of the Year award at Sunday’s Grammys in LA

On TikTok, footage of this is going viral, along with his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift’s supportive reaction towards him.

Swift stood throughout Styles’ entire speech, watching him intently. She appeared to look down when she heard heckling.

Swift was particularly supportive of Styles on Grammy night.

Swift was particularly supportive of Styles on Grammy night. Not only did she give him standing ovations during his performance and acceptance speeches, but she even snuck over to his table at one point during the show to talk to him.

Social media was also flooded with abuse against Harry over his win, and an American reporter who shared a video of the heckling also claimed online people left ‘by the masses’ over Harry’s win.

The abuse came despite Beyoncé breaking the record for most Grammy wins after she took home her 32nd trophy earlier in the evening – though she is still to win the Album of the Year award.

Her not winning for Lemonade or Renaissance were both major upsets to fans, particularly.

Adele, who won in 2017 over Beyoncé for her album 25, even famously refused to accept the award onstage because she felt Beyoncé should’ve won.

This time around, Harry also beat Adele and Lizzo to take the first award of the night for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Harry said in his acceptance speech: ‘Um, man. I’ve been so, so inspired by every artist in this category with me.

‘At a lot of different times in my life, I listened to everyone in this category when I’m alone.

‘And I think like on nights like tonight, it’s obviously so important for us to remember that there is no such thing as bests in music.

‘I don’t think any of us sit in the studio thinking making decisions based on what is going to get us one of these.’

A US journalist who shared a video of the moment to Twitter, commented that people were leaving the awards in protest, writing: ‘Beyoncé was robbed. This was so underwhelming. People are leaving by the masses.’

One wrote: ‘It’s not so much about Harry winning, it’s about Beyoncé NOT winning. How is she your most decorated artist of all time but the academy won’t give her the most coveted award? Sends a sinister message tbh and truly they should never expect she’ll grace them with her presence again.’

Other said: ‘You think harry styles deserved “album of the year” more than beyoncé i respect your opinion but you’re dumb’ fumed one Beyoncé fan.
