Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have learned a valuable lesson after they were brutally roasted by the American comedy series South Park, a commentator has claimed.
Sky News Australia Host Andrew Bolt weighed in on South Park’s mockery of the couple on Monday night.
“Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have just learned the hardest of lessons which is if you start a brawl, do not be surprised if you end up getting punched twice as hard,” he said.
“In fact, South Park has just knocked them out.”
The Bolt Report host was in stitches with laughter over the name of the episode, The Worldwide Privacy Tour, which spoofed the couple’s ongoing plea for privacy, as he discussed the drama with UK writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue.
“Every time I hear that it’s just so brilliant,” Bolt said.
The episode, which aired on February 15, also took aim at the Duke of Sussex’s memoir Spare, renaming it “Waaagh”.
Bolt described Harry’s tell-all novel, which dived into his life as a royal, as “one giant whinge”.
“Now, I don’t know what he and his wife expected from this, was it pity, sympathy for their hard life, or just the millions of dollars they’ve earned from betraying Harry’s family?” Bolt said.
“But, they couldn’t have imagined being made a laughing stock of the cult cartoon South Park.”
Speaking about rumours of the couple suing the US satirical series, Bolt said he “frankly” could not believe that would be the case as he had not seen “hard evidence” of the reports being true.
“And for one reason I don’t believe it, of course, is that it would make it even worse for them wouldn’t it if they did sue,” he said.
Ms. Krakue also did not think the couple would sue the program.
“I’m sure they have better things to spend the royalties that they’re getting from that best-selling book,” she said.
“And the reality is, you can’t sue a cartoon, it’s satire, it is what it is.”
