Police have released a CCTV image of a woman who disappeared with her partner and newborn baby after their car broke down on the M61 two days ago, Daily Mail confirmed.
The footage shows Constance Marten wrapped in a large red scarf outside Harwich Port in Essex around 9am this morning, police say.
Saturday’s surveillance footage was captured more than 200 miles away from where Ms Marten, her partner Mark Gordon and their infant child were last seen on Thursday.
Essex Police are liaising with officers in Greater Manchester to help find the family and have been carrying out ‘extensive enquiries’ in the Harwich Port area.
The CCTV footage was captured on Saturday around 9am, police have confirmed.
Officers are fearful for the family’s safety and have appealed for the mother to make contact and seek medical assistance.
It is believed that Ms Marten had ‘very recently given birth and neither her or the baby have been assessed by medical professionals’.
Essex police said they ‘urgently want to find’ the family and are doing ‘all we can to help.’
Ms Marten, Mr Gordon and the baby have been missing since their vehicle broke down near junction four of the M61, near Bolton, on Thursday night.
Officers said after their car broke down, the couple walked towards Anchor Lane bridge which links the Highfield and Little Hutlon areas Bolton.
Mr Gordon was previously described as wearing dark clothing while Ms Marten, who has a southern accent, was wearing a burgundy coat. The baby was swaddled.
GMP’s head of public protection, Chief Superintendent Michaela Kerr, said today that the ‘concern is make sure the Constance, Mark and baby are safe and well.’
‘As a mum, I would like to make a direct appeal to Constance,’ Ms Kerr stated.
‘Constance, I know this is an exceptionally hard time for you and you are likely feeling scared, but I promise that our number one priority is the same as yours – to keep your beautiful newborn safe,’ she said.
