A woman arrested in Oklahoma City on Wednesday identified herself to police as the mother of Uvalde, Texas, elementary school gunman Salvador Ramos.
Adriana Martinez Reyes, 40, allegedly threatened to kill a man before telling police her son ‘killed all of the children in the Uvalde, Texas, shooting,’ according to court documents.
Salvador Ramos walked into Robb Elementary School in Uvalde on May 24, 2022, and fatally shot 19 students and two teachers before law enforcement officers killed the 18-year-old.
Reyes was arrested after Oklahoma City police were called multiple times to a house to handle a domestic situation.
A man there told officers Reyes threatened to kill him as she was moving out of the house. He also said he was afraid of what Reyes might do to him while he was sleeping.
As the man was interviewed by officers, Reyes, who was still at the scene, began yelling at the man, according to police.
The boyfriend told police that Reyes ‘became angry with him and told him before she moves out of this house she is going to kill him’, according to the report. Additionally, he said ‘he thinks that she will kill him while he sleeps and he is terrified of her’.
He was identified in court documents as VI Alvarez and told police that he was disabled.After her arrest, Reyes called her boyfriend ‘crazy’.
But she said she lived with him because ‘he is not that bad and I love him’.
An incident report filed by police says Reyes was arrested after the man said he wanted charges filed against her.
Reyes was charged with threatening to perform an act of violence and assault and battery.
She was held at Oklahoma County Detention Center on $1,000 bail.
Uvalde residents said they had not see Reyes in the city about 80 miles south of San Antonio for a while after the mass shooting.
It was not clear whether Reyes had moved permanently to Oklahoma City.
When a relative of an Uvalde victim confronted Reyes by chance on the streets almost a month after the massacre, she was recorded on video saying she knew Ramos was ‘a coward’.
Formal charges against Reyes had not yet been filed in Oklahoma County District Court as of Friday morning.
She was being held in the Oklahoma County jail, according to jail records.
