The comes as Vladimir Putin was giving his televised New Year’s address just as hundreds of Russian soldiers were killed in an attack by Ukrainian HIMARS on a barracks in Makivka, eastern Donbass region.

According to reports, the Russian commander was among those killed in the attack minutes before midnight on December 31.
