The Aussie child who went viral after he begged his bullies to leave him alone has scored a role in a Hollywood film alongside Chris Hemsworth.
Quaden Bayles, the Indigenous child with dwarfism who faced severe criticism, went viral after his mother captured a distressing video of him crying following a tough day at school.
His mother uploaded a video of him crying because he had been viciously bullied at school
In the video, his mother, Yarraka, informs viewers that her son is picked on for his condition known as achondroplasia.
‘I’ve just picked my son up from school, witnessed a bullying episode, rang the principal, and I want people to know — parents, educators, teachers — this is the effect that bullying has,’ Yarraka said as Quaden cried.
She added: ‘So, can you please educate your children, your families, your friends, because all it take is for one more incident and you wonder why kids are killing themselves.’
His mum begged people to be kinder as kids made fun of him for being born with dwarfism.
Yarraka explained to NITV that people were teasing the Murri boy for his height and said Quaden had no ‘escape’ from the torment.
She could be heard saying in the video: ‘I used to tell him just ignore it; well no, f***ing ignoring it doesn’t solve the problem.
‘How does that address bullying if you choose to ignore it?
‘It needs to be addressed straight away and that’s exactly what I’m doing now.
‘Every time it happens, I’ll be doing a live video so that people know.
However, shortly after Quaden made headlines for the heartbreaking video, he was handpicked by Mad Max director George Miller to appear in his film Three Thousand Years of Longing.
But the director was so impressed by the child’s acting chops that he also cast Quaden in Furiosa, which is the sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road.
The director told the Sydney Morning Herald: ‘It was good for us and it was good for him. And he did such a good job that he’s got a small role in Furiosa.’
Miller admitted to the outlet that he was outraged by News Corp columnist Miranda Devine, who suggested that Yarraka coached her son to shed some fake tears for the video.
“I thought, ‘What the hell would she know about that?’ he said. ‘That really fired me up.’
‘And while he wasn’t acting in the video, Quaden is set to take the film industry by storm, as he recently shared a snap of the cast for the upcoming film, which includes A-listers Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy.
‘Can’t wait to watch on the big screen next year,’ he wrote on Instagram.
