Francisco Orduno Mota, 68, was found dead outside the doors of a freight elevator in a commercial building in downtown Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said it remains unclear whether Mota got stuck in a closed elevator door and then was crushed to death.
Mota was found dead in the second floor elevator door at the rear of the six-story building just before noon on Wednesday.
