Hours after Harry and Meghan released an incredibly ill-timed trailer for their Netflix documentary, Prince William and Kate Middleton kicked off the first full day of their whirlwind US tour.

Even though, Prince William and Kate’s tour has been blighted by controversy, fans’ enthusiastic response to the couple will no doubt have come as a welcome source of positivity for them. It comes at the time they needed it most.

One particularly enthusiastic fan burst into tears at seeing Kate, who then went over to shake her hand as the woman thanked her ‘for everything she has done’.

“You’ve been so lovely, thank you for everything,” the woman said while holding Kate by the hand, having burst into tears when she saw the mother-of-three making her way over to her.

It is another moment of many touching interactions between the royals and their fans – a surefire sign that the controversies that have overshadowed their first US tour in eight years have certainly not dampened their own popularity.

The couple were seen chatting with several members of the public before heading to their waiting vehicle

William and Kate put on a brave face as they took part in two engagements on Thursday morning, all the while maintaining wide smiles, despite the controversies surrounding the Royal family.
