American actor and super star Will Smith attended the premiere of his new movie ‘Emancipation’ with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and children in Los Angeles.
This premiere would be the first red carpet event Will Smith would be attending since the ugly incident at the last Oscars awards, dubbed the ‘ Oscars slap’ eight months ago.
The 54 year old star made the appearance with his whole family including his wife Jada Smith, and his children Trey, Willow and Jaden who showed up to support him.
This is seen as Will’s big return to the red carpet and an attempt a comeback on his career after he struck comedian Chris Rock across the face during the 2022 Oscars award show.
Chris Rock had made a joke about Jada Pinkett shaved head, and Will Smith reacted by getting on stage and striking Chris across the face. This particular action caused Will to be banned from the Oscars or Academy award show for 10 years.
Will Smith apologized afterwards to Chris months later in a Youtube video, and also embarked on an apology tour recently while promoting his new movie ‘ Emancipation’.
With the release of the movie ‘Emancipation’, Will has used the opportunity to return to the red carpet, but says he will understand and respect his fans if they are not ready to see him on screen just yet.
