Ruth Wilson reveals why she doesn’t want to get married

Ruth said she doesn’t want to get married because she does not believe in marriage as an institution.

According to her, she is not ready to conform to a someone’s else idea of what a relationship is.

Though the Affair star is in a long term relationship with an unnamed American writer, she just doesn’t want to take it to the next level of marriage.

Ruth Wilson as a product of polygamy share some marital beliefs which take root in her polygamous antecedent.

Wilson’s grandmother found out about her being a polygamist after his death. The shock, the drama and events that followed Wilson’s grandfather have not only shaped her beliefs about marriage, but also stopping her from getting married.

The actress would tell you that she believes in relationships but not in marriage.

‘Yeah it’s genetics. You know, my grandfather died before I was even born and my parents have a great marriage. It must have skipped a generation.’ Ruth said in her claim that polygamy runs in her family.

And while she believes in relationships. she said: ‘I believe in connections, I’ve got a very strong relationship and have had for a number of years. I believe the value of having someone in your life who understands you and sees you is enormous. And I’m so glad I have it.

‘I don’t believe in institutions. I feel slightly restricted by having to conform to someone else’s idea of what a relationship is. It feels dogmatic to me,’ she added.

At the moment, the screen star is not sure of birthing children. She does not think she can manage family and career without having problems.

‘I think about having children, and I don’t know how I could do the career I do with a child. I do question how that’s possible. The travel. The amount of mind time it takes me. I’m not sure how I could do it.

‘I think it’s a myth that you can do it all and do it all easily. It’s just not the case – and shouldn’t be, probably. It’s a mad world, a wonderful world, and I love it. But it makes those other choices in life difficult.’

‘I’m a commitment-phobe generally. Most actors are, probably,’ she concluded.

The 40-year-old diva is presently having some ‘alone moments’ with her American writer boyfriend. She is the youngest of four children.
