A beautiful photo of the Prince and Princess of Wales on their wedding day which was never released to the public has emerged.
The black and white picture shows William and Kate with broad smiles and holding hands as they sit side by side in Buckingham Palace in April 2011.
The focus of the shot is very much on the happy couple. But Royal fans who have seen the image since it first appeared on social media yesterday have also remarked on how the long train from the princess’s Alexander McQueen dress dominates the picture.
Prince William and Kate got married in on April 29 2011 and said ‘I do’ in front of 2,000 guests, while almost 37 million people around the world watched on television.
This image has come to light as it is said to have been used as the picture for the couple’s Christmas card in 2011 and one of these cards was put on sale on eBay.
It was being sold by an eBayer based in Witney, Oxfordshire, and had an asking price of £2,999 before it was removed from sale.
The seller, EdRead, seems to specialise in rare Royal memorabilia and has items including a Christmas card signed by Queen Victoria in 1880 and a 2016 Christmas card from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip for sale at the moment.
They told Express.co.uk they had bought it at an auction recently and wanted to share it more publicly.
The picture was shared on Instagram by the royal fan account @RoyalInstaBlog who wrote: “New never seen before image of The Prince and Princess of Wales on their wedding day. They shared this image in their 2011 Christmas card.”
