The outgoing ‘audio manager’ of Meghan and Prince Harry’s company said on TikTok that she created the Duchess of Sussex’s award-winning podcast.
Archetypes executive producer Rebecca Sananes launched her complaint after The Hollywood Reporter published its list of the “forty most powerful people in podcasting” and failed to include her.
Ms Sananes attributed the success of podcasts, including Archetypes, to “undervalued, under-credited and underpaid” producers.
Meghan, who launched the podcast as part of an £18m deal with US audio giant Spotify, said hosting the show made her feel like a changed woman.

In a rant on teens’ favorite video-sharing app, just weeks before her departure from Archewell was reported, Sananes announced, “I’m the executive producer and creator of Archetypes, hosted by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.”
“The 40 most powerful people in podcasting aren’t executives, they’re not celebrity hosts, and they’re not talent agents,” Sananes said.
“It’s the producers. Producers edit, research, write, script, sound good, score, whatever you love about your favorite podcast is because a producer did it and producers are underrated, under-credited and under-paid and that makes the industry boring and slow. Let’s do better.
The first season of Archetypes saw Meghan join guests including Mariah Carey, Serena Williams, Jameela Jamil and Paris Hilton.
When the Duchess of Sussex launched the highly publicized, she said she felt a changed woman.
“It’s so real,” she said. ‘I feel different. I feel clearer. It’s like I found – I couldn’t find my voice. I’ve had my voice for a long time, but I’m able to use it.
The podcast was named Pop Podcast of 2022 at the People’s Choice Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
Meghan, on the eve of her explosive Netflix documentary with Prince Harry, shared a statement thanking listeners and voters and saying their support “means the world”.
She said: “Thank you to all the supporters and fans of Archetypes who voted for us for this special People’s Choice Award.
“I loved dipping my hands into the process, sitting up late at night in bed, working on writing and creating.
“And I loved having a meaningful conversation with my diverse and inspiring guests, laughing and learning with them, and each of you listening.
“It’s been such a labor of love with an incredible team that has helped bring this series to life.
“A special thank you to Terry Wood who was my right hand on this special project, as well as Catherine, Rebecca, Andy, Matt and the entire team who all worked hard to make every moment resonate.
