Prince Harry and Meghan’s fate was sealed due to their successful tour of Australia in 2018, because ‘the Palace felt incredibly threatened’.
This is the explosive claim from one of Meghan Markle’s friends in the fourth episode of the Harry and Meghan Netflix docuseries, which was released today.
Lucy Fraser appears throughout the documentary and is said to be one of Meghan’s closest friends.
Before the future duchess deleted her personal Instagram account, Ms. Fraser was among the friends featured in her pictures, especially during the summer of 2016 before she met Harry, when she traveled around Europe.
But, unlike the fun of two years previously, Ms. Fraser suggests the trip to Australia for Meghan with Prince Harry sealed their fate.
The British PR woman says the tour, where Meghan’s pregnancy was revealed, suggested to The Firm she was ‘better’ at royal engagements than William, Kate and Charles.
She said: “The internals at the palace were incredibly threatened by that.”
And Prince Harry agreed, saying: “The issue is, when someone who’s marrying in, who should be ‘a supporting act,’ is then stealing the limelight or is doing the job better than the person who is born to do this, that upsets people.”
The Netflix episode shows shots of crowds cheering during their visit and them being touted as speaking effortlessly for a new generation.
But former aides of Meghan Markle say there were explosive bust-ups on the trip and they accused her of bullying.
These claims were investigated by Buckingham Palace but the Firm chose not to make the findings public.
But because of recent events, a crisis expert told Express.co.uk the Palace will publish the report when the timing is right.
Edward Coram James, a PR, reputation and crisis management expert, said that Prince Harry and Meghan’s new docuseries is “the apex and crescendo moment in a slowly building crisis that has been developing for over two years”.
The PR expert, and CEO of Go Up, said: “The royals are currently sitting on a report that is likely to be highly critical of the Duchess of Sussex, with many former royal aides that have come forward to accuse her of bullying.”
