Travolta took to social media Monday after Alley’s death at 71 was announced, the duo worked together on the three Look Who’s Talking films.
Prior to her death, Alley had past spoken about her romantic interest toward Travolta, 68. Meanwhile, Travolta’s wife Kelly Preston died of cancer at 57 in July of 2020.
‘Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kirstie,’ said Travolta, 68. ‘I know we will see each other again,” Travolta wrote.
In 2018, Alley, while appearing on Celebrity Big Brother U.K., spoke about her fondness for the Hollywood stalwart, which extended into romantic areas.
‘I think I kissed Travolta,’ Alley said of the actor, a fellow member of the Church of Scientology. ‘I almost ran off and married John. I did love him, I still love him.
‘If I hadn’t been married I would’ve gone and married him and I would’ve been in an airplane because he has his own plane.’
Alley said that neither she nor Travolta acted on their romantic instincts toward one another, as she was married to Parker Stevenson at the time; and he was wed to the late Kelly Preston (who died of cancer in 2020) by the time she divorced Stevenson in 1997.
Appearing on The Howard Stern Show in 2013, Alley described Travolta as ‘the greatest love of my life.’
‘It took me years to not look at John as a romantic interest,’ Alley said, describing Travolta as ‘a very generous person’ and ‘really, really interested in people.
‘If you ever talk to John, and this is genuine with him, you will become the most interesting thing that he’s ever met in his life. He so wants to know who you are, what you’ve done … and he’s obviously very handsome.’
Travolta in August of 2019 as well called Alley his ‘best girlfriend’ and ‘soulmate’ while speaking to US. Asked about the potential Look Who’s Talking reboot, Travolta said, ‘I would do anything with Kirstie. So let’s see what happens.’
Alley’s death marks the latest personal tragedy for Travolta, who lost his friend and Grease costar Olivia Newton John earlier this summer following her death at 73 after a cancer battle.
Alley’s ex-husband Parker Stevenson, who she was married to from 1983-1997, posted a poignant memorial in which he said she ‘will be missed.
