Privacy was one of the reasons the Sussexes stepped back from royal duties. But Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary appears to ignore the privacy of the royal estate.

As the couple appears to have handed over photographs of themselves inside the late Queen’s private little ‘Welsh Cottage’ in Windsor Park – where she and her sister Princess Margaret happily played in their childhood – to Netflix as part of their lucrative deal.

It is unclear when the photos of the Sussexes were taken. But it is unlikely, according to royal insiders, that the family gave them permission to hand them over as part of a business deal.

One said: “It looks like they were gathering as much material as quickly as they could before they were shut down by the palace.”

A photo shows the Duke and Duchess of Sussex laughing as they sit in children’s chairs drinking from a royal tea set.

The photographs appear to have been taken by professionals.

Princess Elizabeth was given the two-storey cottage – called ‘Y Bwthyn Bach’ or ‘The Little House’ – by the people of Wales on her sixth birthday in 1932. It was fitted with electric lighting and water current as well as furniture and even a functional telephone.

Elizabeth and Margaret loved the house and proudly looked after it themselves. It is not open to the public and never has been.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment and representatives for the couple in the UK and California did not respond to a request for comment last night.
