Messi has received a hero’s welcome back home in Argentina in jubilant scenes that are stunning. Yesterday was declared a national holiday by proud President Alberto Fernandez.
A devoted football fan has showed off his unique tribute to World Cup hero Lionel Messi by getting the Argentine captain’s face shaved into the back of his head.
The stunning ‘hair tattoo’ creation was carried out by Antonio, known as Anton Barber, in the Dominican Republic.
While supporters around the world have showed off their admiration for arguably the world’s greatest ever player by buying Messi shirts and even swamping his home, this fan went to even greater lengths to honour his idol.
Footage shows the incredible likeness to the World Cup winning captain, with his beard and haircut even shaved into the back of the customer’s head.
Antonio said on Instagram: ‘I am fortunate to belong to Messi era, football history is rewritten.
‘I watched several world cups hoping you will be given a chance to win that beautiful world trophy. ‘Soccer unites, Latin America won today. You are great on and off the pitch.’
The ‘hair tattoo’ was carried out before the tournament but the barber shared it again in the wake of the historic victory.
The post gained nearly 2,000 likes, with one person writing ‘you are not a barber, you are an artist’.
The PSG star was greeted by hundreds of cheering fans chanting ‘Dale Campeon’ translating to ‘Let’s go champion’.
