Renowned food blogger, ‘Fatty Goes To Africa’ has been stabbed to death in a broad daylight while he was live-streaming from a market in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu.
He was reportedly attacked by a rival blogger – 37-year-old Feng Zhengyung, in the city on 4 December on the basis of multiple conflicts and unresolved debts.
The 20-year-old Chinese social media star, with the name Gan was going about with what he’s renowned for – livestreaming from the busy food market and talking to his friends – when he was stabbed in broad daylight.
The suspect who is also an Internet celebrity named ‘Ayun’, with a grudge against his rival food blogger, came from behind to stab Gan in the chest and abdomen in the middle of the street.
On the day of the attack, Gan was accompanied by two friends while doing a live broadcast, but they couldn’t stop what was coming.
Just as the group of people were walking and discussing, there was a scream in front of the camera, followed by Gan being stabbed and seriously injured. He was later taken to hospital but was declared dead.
One of Gan’s friends was reportedly stabbed too, and suffered multiple injuries and was also sent to hospital to be treated.
The suspect is now in police custody while the investigation goes on.
Gan, a food blogger used his social media platform to introduce the food and culture of foreign countries to followers and has nearly five million fans in China.
The food blogger ‘Fatty Goes To Africa’ had succeeded in attracting many people to watch his daily life in Africa.
