The mayor of a small town in Oregon has been arrested for opening fire and shooting an SUV carrying a family-of-four including children during road rage on Halloween night.
The Mayor, Dowen Jones is currently behind bars after firing at two adults and two children aged 8 and 5 around 8:40 pm on the 31st of October 2022.
Reports say the Mayor was spotted driving erratically in front of the SUV of the family on Highway 281, when he pulled over out of the blue. The family were said to have slowed down in order to get a description of the driver to lodge a report when the Mayor opened fire on them.
The Mayor was said to have stepped out from the passenger’s side of the vehicle before firing multiple rounds with a handgun. It is not clear if Jones was the driver of the vehicle or not.
No injuries have bene reported on the family, but the SUV was said to be severely damaged.
Jones has been charged to court with one count of attempted murder and 4 counts of attempted assaults. Unfortunately, no mugshot of Jones would be released as regards a law in Oregon that was put in effect last year.
Although he fled the scene after the assault, he was tracked down and identified by his vehicle. His bail has been set to $500,000
