Russian President Vladimir Putin has suffered the deadliest day in his invasion of Ukraine after a record number of Russian soldiers were killed in a single day.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the country’s military killed 950 Russian soldiers between October 29 and 30.
Lieutenant General Serhiy Shaptala wrote on Facebook: “it was a good day, the occupiers suffered the biggest losses in the Donetsk and Lyman directions.”
This marks the highest death toll in a single day for Russian soldiers in the eight-month battle thus far.
Russian forces have sustained disastrous losses over the past few weeks, with the total death toll now estimated to sit at over 71,000 according to Ukrainian military officials.
The largest casualties were faced on the Donetsk and Lyman fronts in the east of Ukraine.
The two regions are strategically important to both sides and are home to some of the fiercest fighting in the ongoing war.
President Putin annexed Donetsk and three other regions from Ukraine in September and imposed martial law on the territories in October.
However, the Ukrainians launched a strong counter-offensive in response, which Russian forces have been struggling to keep at bay.
Russian troops withdrew from Lyman early in October after a Ukrainian counter-offensive, prompting rare public criticism of Russia’s army from Kremlin leaders and allies.
The Kremlin-appointed leader of the Chechnya Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, criticized the military’s top brass for the retreat in a Telegram post that has been viewed more than 7.6 million times.
Lyman sits within the Donetsk region and is a crucial transport and logistics hub.
Ukraine also claims to have shot down two Russian Ka-52 attack helicopters in the Berislav district of Kherson oblast on Monday.
ok.with this ongoing war why is Ukraine not hitting the power points over in Russia .start the public on under standing what Putin is doing in Ukraine.
I totally agree why doesn’t Ukraine start sending missiles over into
Russia from the boarder of Ukraine & Russia then the Russians will understand what Ukraine is dealing with
They don’t attack sites deep within Russia where most military targets are located, because our chicken-livered, stupid leaders, notably brain-dead Biden and Shitty Scholtz think that Russia should have modern airplanes but Ukraine should just suffer the total destruction of its infrastructure and not have planes to respond.
