Offset, Quavo, Drake and others shared a heartfelt and emotional speech during the memorial service of Takeoff, a member of the three-member rap group, the Migos.
Takeoff, born Kirsnick Khari Ball, was killed on the 1st of November following a shootout that took place outside a bowling alley in Houston, Texas.
Several celebrities including the remaining two members of his rap group the Migos honored him at his memorial service that took place on the 11th of November 2022, at the Atlanta State Farm.
The service started just after noon that day, and lasted for several hours during which his co stars in the music, rap and entertainment industry delivered emotional and teary speeches about him and for him.
Among those who gave their speeches were Quavo, who talked about growing up together with him, and how they always did everything together, Offset who apologized to Takeoff for their falling out prior to the late rapper’s death, saying he only wanted to focus on family and brotherhood, and finally Drake.
Justin Bieber, Yolanda Adams and even Chloe Bailey delivered performances on the same day, all in a bid to show Takeoff that he was loved and appreciated by his fans.
Takeoff was said to have received a posthumous award from his hometown in Atlanta. The award was the Phoenix award, and it was said to be the highest honor of the city. It was given by the Mayor of the city Andre Dickens.
