A Thai media tycoon and transgender woman has recently bought the Miss Universe Organization for the sum of $20 million. This will make it the first time the organization would be owned by a woman.
The CEO and biggest shareholder of JKN Global Group Pcl, Jakapong Anne Jakrajutatip is a huge celebrity on Thailand, and she has starred in local reality shows like Project Runway and Shark Tank. Ever since her transformation into a woman, she has spoken about her experience as a transgender woman, and has also set up a foundation called The Life Inspired Foundation that would advocate for the rights of transgender people and their rights, dignity and opportunities.
Since her acquisition of The Miss Universe Organization, she has explained that the acquisition is a strong and strategic addition to her portfolio and the portfolio of her business empire. According to her, the Miss Universe and the contents, opportunities and licensing it has is planning to expand in Asia.
Her company JKN, produces its own shows and also distributes the content of its shows in Thailand and abroad, including other shows like documentaries and Bollywood shows. The Miss Universe show that has been running for 71 years , is broadcast in over 160 countries and was co-owned by Former US President Donald Trump between the years 1996 and 2002.
