Mary would soon get teaching jobs, and ended up as a deputy head teacher in one of those jobs. Her husband –Jake worked in a factory and got a job at the post office.
Mary would always tell people, “before I invite you to my home, please know that my husband is black.” Some would never talk to her again when she said this.
Mary and Jake are now in their seventy years and counting in marriage and they are still very much in love.
