The heritage of Meghan Markle was in fact one of the reasons why Prince Harry had a falling out with his family. During the interview with Oprah, Meghan stated that one member of the royal family had commented on whether or not her son Archie would be black or have a darker skin tone when born, owing to her mixed race heritage.
Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan was popular, and still is, and one of the reasons for this is Meghan Markle’s mixed race heritage, as it is uncommon for a member of the royal family to marry a black person or someone who is not from Britain. The fact that Prince Harry was determined to marry Meghan regardless of her race made the marriage all the more interesting.
While Meghan has become popular as a black member of the royal family, she is not 100% a black woman. Born to a Caucasian father and an African American mother, Meghan is in fact biracial. However, a lot of people seem to have trouble believing she has any form of black heritage.
This is not much of a surprise, as Meghan has gravitated more to her Caucasian heritage than her black heritage. According to some sources, she only uses her black or African heritage as an excuse whenever it suits her, like during her trip to South Africa where she referred to herself as a ‘woman of colour’ not black.
Even more to note, is the fact that she has identified herself as Caucasian in her documentations all her life, and does not relate well with the African or Black community. Infact, all of Meghan’s friends seem to be white, and her life choices basically describe her being more comfortable relating to her Caucasian side.
It is a wonder now, how she is drifting to her black heritage as a means of getting sympathy from the public. In plain terms, Meghan is said to be leaning towards her African side when she needs some form of support from the general public. The reports of her getting involved in the BLM movement was probably not for the sincerity of it, but for the support she hopes to get in her political career.
Prior to all these, Meghan was never and had never been involved in anything that promotes her African heritage or her membership in the black community. In all, it is safe to say that she may not be racially prejudiced against black people, but she is definitely not very proud of that part of herself.
