Hayek returned to the beach for another selfie on Tuesday, February 19, and as expected, she looked absolutely beautiful in the photo she posted to Instagram.
Shot from below — you know, the angle that’s no one’s best except Salma Hayek’s, apparently — she looks serenely happy with the wind in her hair and not a stitch of makeup on her face. But one opinionated fan had to take it to a negative place with an unsolicited comment.
“Too much Botox, not needed Salma!” the commenter wrote. And while yes, no one needs Botox, it’s not up to anyone but Hayek if she wants to get the wrinkle-smoothing injectable treatment.
It’s also incredibly rude to assume — especially in a public forum — that someone has gotten any kind of cosmetic work done.
Although she had every right to totally ignore the comment, Hayek handled the presumptuousness with her special combination of grace and humor.
Replying directly to the commenter, she wrote, “I don’t have Botox; but thank you for the advice because I was thinking maybe it’s time.”
And it’s not up for debate. Hayek may or may not be kidding about whether she’s considering Botox, but if she is then she has no obligation to report back to her fans.
Whatever her decision, we have a feeling she’ll continue to look incredible in makeup-free selfies.
