Senator Hollie Hughes added
that Meghan is a ‘terrible influence’ on the Duke of Sussex, as she
commented on the tensions going on in the royal family.
All eyes have been on the
royals since Queen Elizabeth II’s death on Thursday, September 8,
during the nation’s period of mourning up until the funeral today.
During the funeral, Meghan and
Harry walked behind Prince William and Kate, and Princess
Charlotte and Prince George down the aisle as they filed into Westminster
Abbey after the Queen’s coffin.
Speaking on Australia’s Sky
News on Monday afternoon, Hughes said: ‘I think he’s made an awful error and I
think she’s had a terrible influence over him.
‘She’s just a horrible human.
It’s absolutely disgraceful.’
The senator previously added
that she believes Harry will one-day regret the ‘awful mistake’ of marrying
Meghan.
‘I’m sick of both of them,’
she added.
‘I sort of long for the day I
hope Harry rolls over one day and takes one look and thinks, “What have I done”
and comes to his senses and moves back across the pond.’
Social media users have
slammed Hughes over her comments, with one writing: ‘The only “awful mistake”
is Senator Hollie Hughes obviously confusing her role as a Liberal Senator for
NSW with her mean girl role in high school. Appalling behaviour from someone
who should know better and be striving to do better.’
