Kanye West apparently isn’t
very pleased with how the narrative of his divorce from Kim
Kardashian is playing out in the media and would like everyone to know
that it was actually him who wanted out first.
Since rumors of the
couple’s split first began earlier this year, every source and insider
professed that it was the reality star who was ending their marriage “for
the sake of her kids and her own sanity.” But according to a source who
spoke to Page Six this week, West is the one who has actually long
wanted to end the relationship, blaming this warped portrayal of their split on
the Kardashian’s “huge spin machine.”
The insider explained that the
rapper is “super annoyed that the story is being constantly presented as her
divorcing him,” when, “Actually, it was him saying for a year that they have
nothing in common except the kids and he wanted out. She pulled all the stops
to try to save the marriage.”
And while Kardashian was the
first to take the formal legal steps to end their relationship, the source adds
that’s because West wanted to let her “file first in order to give her
dignity.”
At first, it looked like there
was “no bad blood” between the two estranged stars as they
successfully navigated co-parenting. But now, it seems that divorce detente may
have only been possible because the pair have reportedly completely
stopped talking to each other.
Another source previously
told Page Six that, “Even before Kim filed for divorce, Kanye changed
his numbers and said, ‘You can contact me through my security.’ Despite this,
she trusts him around the kids. He loves them and is seeing a lot of them. She
leaves the house and he arrives and hangs out with the kids. They have an army
of nannies so the transition is easy.”
But while this new report
claims the breakup was all Kanye’s idea, someone who previously spoke
to E! News asserted that it was Kim who was ready to file for months
and the musician who was “upset” and “wishes they could have made it work.”
They explained, “Kim was just tired of waiting. She tried to give it a chance.
She wanted to do this last year. She gave it plenty of time but it’s just time
to move on. There were no affairs. No one did anything bad. They grew apart.”
