Royal expert Marlene Koenig
argued that Prince Harry had shown himself to be a “spoiled
brat” in his interview with Oprah Winfrey. During an interview with
Express.co.uk, Ms. Koenig argued it was the Duke’s responsibility to explain to
his wife, Meghan Markle, what life would be like in the Royal Family.
She outlined moments during the interview that indicated that Harry had not
adequately prepared Meghan.
She added it was strange that
the Duke of Sussex failed to inform his wife about the nuances of working in
the Royal Family after making multiple comments about his dedication to
protecting his family.
Ms Koenig said: “Why am I
calling Prince Harry a spoiled brat? After watching that interview with my
mouth gawping, I have total sympathy for Meghan Markle.
“I do think that there
were elements of the press, headlines especially, that were beyond cruel. There
is no doubt about that, but that is not to say that every headline or every
article was like that because it wasn’t.”
The royal expert remarked that
Prince Harry should have better prepared Meghan Markle for all the smaller
details of working within the Royal Family.
She highlighted a particular
concerning moment from the interview that showed Meghan’s lack of preparation.
She said: “When you hear
the conversation that was in this interview, Meghan said that when she got to
Royal Lodge in Windsor, she said you have to curtsy, she was like what?
“Harry, in all his
statements for wanting to take care of Meghan and wanting to protect his
family, he never really said if you are marrying into my family there are some
things you need to know and what our life is going to be like.
“You get all these
wonderful things in this life but you are part of a team. The fact that he
never prepared her for this, even the little things like for when you meet
grandma, that was a bit strange. There were certain things in that interview
that bothered me and his actions.”
