Meghan Markle and Prince
Harry were spotted leaving Prince Charles’ London residence on
Friday morning, leading to speculation that a secret meeting has been held
between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Prince of Wales. The suspected
meeting took place before the Service of Thanksgiving service for Queen
Elizabeth II and her reign at St Paul’s Cathedral. Royal journalists Katie
Nicholl and Adrienne Arsenault were reporting on-air with CBC when they
saw Meghan and Harry being driven out of Clarence House, the home of
Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who shortly after left
their residence, too.
The duke and
duchess travelled from California to join the Royal Family and
the British public in the celebrations for the Queen’s 70-year reign this week.
Meghan and Harry stepped down
from their roles as senior royals two years ago. Their exit sent shockwaves
through the family and reportedly forged a rift between them and the Firm.
Initially, Harry and Meghan
were hoping for a half-in, half-out deal, whereby they would spend time in both
the UK and North America.
According to the Sussex Royal
website, Meghan and Harry wanted “to continue to represent and support Her
Majesty The Queen,” while having “their own income and the ability to pursue
their own private charitable interests.” But this plan was rejected, and the
Sussexes have since spent most of their time in the US.
