A teenage girl has killed a grandmother in Adamawa
State.
When interrogated, the 15-year-old said her action was
intentional as she did it to teach the 85-year-old woman a lesson.
Reports had it that the young girl had armed herself with a
stick, visited the residence of the woman, and beat her to a stupor until she
died in the process.
Acknowledging her crime, she told the police that the old
woman, Gama Jatau, had bewitched and inflicted her with sicknesses on
several occasions. The girl who lives in the same neighbourhood as the aged
woman said she chose the act to teach the woman a lesson.
The girl was accused of murder and has been arraigned
before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Yola, which ordered that she be
remanded. The Chief Magistrate Abdullahi Muhammed Digil, having heard
the teenager plead guilty to her crime, ordered that she should be remanded
while he adjourned the case to May 26, 2022.
