Why Did The Actor (Jason Isaacs) Who Played Lucius Malfoy In The Harry Potter Movies Say He “Refuses To Stab J. K. Rowling In The Back”?

Jason Isaacs born 6 June 1963, is an English actor. Born
in Liverpool, England, he is the third of four sons born to Jewish parents. His father was a jeweler.

He spent his earliest childhood years in the Liverpool suburb of Childwall, in an “insular and closely knit” Jewish
community co-founded by his Eastern European Jewish great-grandparents.

Jason Isaacs believes
that is exactly what his fellow former castmates are doing — stabbing J.K.
Rowling in the back. Kicking her when she’s down when hating her, and being
negative about her has become the ‘hip thing’ to do. He doesn’t even
necessarily agree with her controversial viewpoints. But he refuses to throw
her under the bus out of principle.

Isaacs told the Telegraph:
“There’s a bunch of stuff about Joanne. You know, I play complicated people,
I’m interested in complicated people. I don’t want to get drawn into the trans
issues, talking about them, because it’s such an extraordinary minefield.”

He went on to note some of the
positive work Rowling has done.

He said: “She has her opinions,
I have mine. They differ in many different areas. But one of the things that
people should know about her too — not as a counter-argument — is that she has
poured an enormous amount of her fortune into making the world a much better
place, for hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children, through her charity
Lumos. And that is unequivocally good. Many of us Harry Potter actors
have worked for it, and seen on the ground the work that they do.”

It’s hugely admirable to do
what Isaacs has done — refuse to give the press another juicy story of a former
actor who’s worked on the franchise to publicly disavow J.K. Rowling.

Instead he is doing something
that is rarely done in today’s bloodthirsty clickbait world: highlighting the
good in a person, agreeing to disagree, and moving on. Classic act!
