Did you know that in Italy,
the name of the movie “Moana” was changed to “Oceania”?
Naturally in Italy, the reason was that it is impossible to write the
word Moana on the internet and avoid photos and videos of the late Moana Pozzi,
a very famous pornstar who was well known and loved even by the normal public
because of her smartness and bubbly personality, in fact despite her work she was
often on TV without causing scandal and in Italy, everyone knew her. She has
been dead for over 20 years.
She was so popular that in Italy they wrote books and even made films
and TV series about her. She was a very intelligent woman, the daughter of a
nuclear researcher, had relationships with famous actors (it seems that Robert
de Niro was one of them) and Italian politicians (including a prime minister),
she founded a political party and was herself a politician. She was a frequent
TV guest and she also acted in traditional and popular movies, she was
suspected of being a spy, had a son at 18, and said he was her younger brother
and she secretly died overseas at 33, so her end has remained a mystery to this
day. In fact, there are those who say that she died of liver cancer and those
who say that she is still alive and hidden who knows where. Avoiding photos and
videos of her in Italy is impossible, she was known by men and women of all
generations. Her death is still mourned by many Italians.
Also, the movie is called “Vaiana” in Spain, but for no-porn-related
reasons that I know of (I do not think the late Ms. Pozzi is that popular
around here). Actually, there is a local brand of cosmetic products -mainly
soap- which goes by that name. Since the brand was registered in Spain for a
number of uses that may have overlapped with Disney’s marketing plans, I guess
they took the safer path and went a different way. This may be the case. I’m not sure they are active anymore, but with the brand
duly registered, the risk for Disney was not acceptable.
