I have not met him, but here is what others have
to say about him.

I had the luck to have the opportunity to
meet George Michael in 2005. We had spent a few hours at the bar of the
Claridge’s Hotel in London. He was a regular guest at the hotel bar, I ended up
in the hotel for an interview with the Black Eyed Peas.
I must say that I experienced him as a very
kind and nice person. He wasn’t arrogant but respectful to the people around
him. We had drinks and since it was 19th December his song “Last Christmas” was
all over the radio. When it accidentally came up through the hotel bar
speakers, we all (he was there with his boyfriend and publicist) smiled and
started singing along out loud. It was a great night with simply fun people.
Looking back, I do think: ‘Holy shit, I sang
“Last Christmas” together with George Michael once’ – as I really love his
voice and songs. It’s a great loss of talent that he isn’t around anymore.

I met George
Michael many times in the mid-eighties in his Wham days when I was on the door
of ‘Taboo” Leigh Bowery’s night at Maximus Disco in Leicester Sq, London.
George was still pretending to be straight and would turn up with two women on
each arm and the paparazzi would swarm him taking pictures. As soon as he got
into the club he left the girls and was his real self. He would be with Boy
George, Marilyn they would be dancing around laughing and just having fun. At
the end of the night, he would leave with the girls on each arm again.
Most
nights he would come and stand with us at the door to have a cigarette. He
would stand behind us and we would let him decide who would be let in. A nice
man but it was sad seeing the pretense he thought he had to go through. I met
him again about ten years later in Versace Bond St and we had a five-minute
chat about how life has changed.

I always
liked George Michael very much. His voice was something to really enjoy but of
course, I am a singer first in the youth choir and still now with the adult choir.
My husband does not admit he is afraid of gays but he is. I will always
appreciate his singing it just was that great to me! Some of my girlfriends
just got into his looks but it was entirely about his singing and the songs
he chose to sing! George, may you rest in peace and I have several of your
albums now!
