The Queen shares a never before seen photo with Prince Philip after his successful heart surgery

To mark World Book Day, the official Instagram account of  the British Royals, posted a never before seen photo of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip; along with other aptly themed photographs and videos of other royals

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are seen in the photo surrounded by bookcases in Balmoral Castle in 1976. Queen Elizabeth sits behind a desk holding open a book, while Prince Philip looks off into the distance, with one hand on the Queen’s shoulder.

This photo marks the Duke’s 16th night in hospital, and the palace has confirmed that his heart procedure at St Bartholomew’s Hospital was successful. He will however remain on admission for observation, and rest.

Regardless, the Queen has continued to host and attend events virtually. Just recently, she attended an unveiling of a statue of herself on the grounds of the South Australian government house.

In a video shared by the Palace, the Queen jokes about the statue saying

“It must be quite alarming to suddenly see it out of the window – you’d think, gracious, has she arrived unexpectedly!”

Another video of the Duchess of Cornwall was posted, and she talks about her love for books to mark the day.
