Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have stunned the world with the revelations made on their CBS Primetime Interview with Oprah.
The Duke of Sussex told the TV host veteran that he believed his grandmother, the Queen, was getting bad advice from the people working with or closest to her.
Harry recounted the tale of how he received conflicting messages from the Queen and her staff in January 2020.
He said he had spoken with the Queen
“My grandmother had said ‘the moment you land, come up to Sandringham, we’d love to have a chat, come for tea, why don’t you stay for dinner because it’s going to be a long drive and you’re going to be exhausted?'”
However, he later received a message from the Queen’s private secretary to his, cancelling the plans in Sandringham. Harry explained that the message was
“basically saying ‘please pass on to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that he cannot come to Norfolk. The Queen is busy, she’s busy all week’.”
Prince Harry went on to reveal that when he did speak with the Queen again, her explanation to him was that she had something else in her diary planned, and would be busy even for the rest of the week.
Harry’s take on the situation is that
“When you’re head of the firm there is people around you that give you advice. And what has also made me really sad is some of that advice has been really bad.”
There are also accusations that another member of the royal family made racist remarks regarding the skin color of Meghan and Harry’s first child, Archie, about how dark his skin would be. Prince Harry also commented that racism played a huge role in their decision to leave the UK.
In her own CBS interview on Monday, Oprah explained that
“He did not share the identity with me but he wanted to make sure I knew, and if I had an opportunity to share it, that it was not his grandmother or grandfather that were part of those conversations.”
Oprah also told CBS that she believes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex agreed to the interviews because they wanted a chance to tell their side of the story amidst the rumors and fake stories circulating for years.
