After suffering a devastating miscarriage in 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry are expecting a second baby in the summer.
With baby bump in full view in the teaser clip from the CBS interview with Oprah set to air on Sunday, we are all wondering if the couple will reveal the gender of the baby!
With Archie, who was born in 2019, the details of his gender were a well kept secret until his birth. However, in the publication of the Royal Biography Finding Freedom, explained that
“Harry and Meghan already had a name ready to go when Archie was born, because the couple had known all along that they were having a boy. According to a source, they settled on their son’s name some time during the final week of her pregnancy.”
The couple may very well stick to the same pattern.
The interview with Oprah promises to be a big inside scoop on everything Meghan, from marriage, to motherhood, constantly being in the mainstream media, and her philanthropic work. However, there is no confirmation that the gender of the Duchess’ second baby will be revealed on the exclusive interview.
Many news agencies are speculating that the gender reveal, if there is one, would be a symbolic and well timed announcement ahead of International Women’s Day on the 8th March. Meghan and Prince Harry have constantly identified as proud feminists- particularly Meghan who as a pre-teen wrote to Proctor and Gamble in an effort to convince and change a sexist ad they had run. Young Meghan was able to get the advert changed from
‘women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans’ to ‘people all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans’
Again in 2015, while speaking at a UN Women conference, Meghan remarked that
“Women make up more than half of the world’s population and potential, so it is neither just nor practical for their voices, for our voices, to go unheard at the highest levels of decision-making.”
There is no doubt that a royal baby girl would be taught that the world is filled with limitless possibilities by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
