Gayle King, US TV personality and friend of Meghan Markle, has accused Buckingham Palace of launching a full on smear campaign against the Duchess of Sussex just days before her CBS interview with Oprah is scheduled to air.
The smear campaign in question, is Buckingham Palace releasing a statement on Thursday saying that it would launch full investigations into complaints from staff at Kensington Palace who claimed that Meghan had bullied them while they had been in the employ of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Many of these claims come from what is expected to be a majority of former female employees in what the palace describes as
“distorted several-year-old accusations”.
Gayle, on her Sirius XM radio show, which aired on Thursday evening, said that,
“The Palace – also known as the firm – has launched what appears to be a full scale take down of Meghan which is raging in the UK right now, saying she was a mean girl who mistreated staff – and if you meet Meghan Markle nothing could be further from the truth,”
King also expressed her displeasure at the fact that no ‘investigations’ were launched into Prince Andrew’s relationship with Jeffery Epstein when allegations of sleeping with underage girls first surfaced. She said,
“Now the palace has launched an investigation. I was thinking how is that investigation going with Prince Andrew who was a friend and associate of Jeffrey Epstein and there were allegations of sleeping with underage girls? We’ve interviewed some of those girls, who are now women, who have told that story.
“But they appear to be on a huge takedown of Meghan. And what a ‘coinkidink’ [sic] that these allegations first surfaced in 2018 and now the palace has decided to investigate them now. Hmmm, things that make you go hmmm.”
Gayle King, like the rest of us, is eager is to see the interview which airs on Sunday 7th March, and has hypothesized that this vilification of Meghan Markel may very well have its roots in racism.
