In her interview with Oprah on Sunday, Meghan Markle talked about her Father, Thomas Markle, who she had fallen out with in 2018, around the time of the of her Royal nuptials to Prince Harry.
According to the Duchess of Sussex, her father has never met Prince Harry, or his Grandson Archie.
Meghan told Oprah that the reason she had become distant from her father was when she discovered he was working with tabloid media outlets and arranging for the involvement of the paparazzi on the days leading up to her wedding.
Meghan said she had felt betrayed by his actions and she confronted him.
“When I asked him, he said, ‘No, absolutely not [that he hadn’t been talking to the tabloids],'”
But when the Duke and Duchess tried to put an end to the tabloids with his cooperation and testimony denying his involvement, Thomas Markle was not able to.
“I said, I just need you to tell me and if you tell me the truth we can help. And he wasn’t able to do that.”
The Duchess of Sussex also commented on her relationship with her half-sister, Samantha Markle, saying there relationship was non-existent and it must have been hard for her half-sister to write a book without knowing her.
Meghan said
“I grew up as an only child and I wished I had siblings… the last time I saw her must have been 18, 19 years ago, and before that, ten years before that,
“She changed her last name back to Markle only when I started dating Harry, so I think that says enough.”
