The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, in her interview with Oprah on Sunday, told the host about her ‘one regret’ from life inside the Royal family.
The 39 year old, who is also expecting her second child with Prince Harry, opened up about several aspects of her life and expectations as she joined the royal family in 2018.
For Meghan, her biggest regret
“is believing them when they said I would be protected, I believed that.”
Meghan then stated that she felt she and Harry were now on the other side of the pressure, press, and problems they left behind in the UK, and that they were doing well.
“And this is, in some ways, just the beginning for us. We’ve been through a lot, it’s felt like a lifetime.”
A particularly interesting part of the interview saw Meghan talk about the publicized alleged fight she had with Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, in the week leading up to her wedding to Prince Harry. Megan explained that the press had gotten the details of the alleged fight wrong. In fact, it had been Kate who made her cry and not the other way around; the way it had been reported.
As many fans and blogs theorized, the couple also confirmed the news that they are expecting a baby and revealed the gender of the baby. They told Oprah they are having a girl together – a younger sister for son Archie.
On Valentine’s day, 14 February, the couple had announced the pregnancy with a statement reading
“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child”.
The baby is expected to be born in the summer, after a devastating miscarriage in 2020.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex commented on the rest of the family being privy to the pregnancy saying
“Her Majesty, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the entire family are said to be delighted and to wish them well.”
The announcement of a baby girl for the couple is indeed fitting as we celebrate international women’s day, and women throughout the month of March.
