Former Mi5 Director Hired By The Queen For A Big Job At Palace

A new member of staff in the royal household has been announced by Buckingham Palace, and this new member of staff is a new Lord Chamberlain for the Queen herself.

Andrew Parker, Baron Parker of Minsmere was appointed by the Queen herself as Lord Chamberlain, to succeed Lord Peel who retires on the 31st day of March. According to statements, Lord Parker takes up his appointment on the 1st of April. After 14 years of service, Lord Peel announced his intention to retire last year. Following that, the Queen appointed Lord Parker the Lord Chamberlain. With a 37 years career span in MI5 including service as the Director General of MI5 from 2013 – 2020.

From 1st of April 2021, the Lord Chamberlaine will take up the non-executive role of overseeing conduct and general business of the royal household, as well as acting as the channel of communication between the sovereign and the house of Lords.
