7. They Are Selfish
Toxic parents always put their needs and concern first before everyone else. Sometimes they do not seem to be bothered about how the other person is faring or how they can help out. This makes them act in ways that completely disregard the emotions and feelings of others.

8. They Are Hypocritical
Toxic parents will always leave standards for other people including their own children but will never follow those rules themselves. They find it so easy to judge other for their actions but pay no mind to their own flaws and mistakes.

While some people will say this is a way of training the children, toxic parents use harsh and angry methods to vent their anger out on people including their own children. They can flare up or snap at every slightest mistake or even use harsh punishments.
9. They Lie
Toxic parents would not hesitate to lie at any time to get what they want from you or anyone else. They my hide under the pretense of doing it for your own good, but deep down, they are doing it for their own selfish interests. They may also use lying as a tool to maintain control.

10. They Rely On You
On the outside, people may see a loving and caring parent who is open with their children, but deep down, there is a parasitic emotional reliance on the children. It shows when the toxic discloses information they should not be disclosing, to their children, in the hopes of getting sympathy or pity.
11. They Are Neglectful
There is a kind of connection that should exist between parents and their children. However, a toxic parent would not pay attention the physical, emotional and psychological needs of their child or children. To some extent, the child may begin to feel like a burden to the parent because of neglect.
12. They Are Huge Critics
Toxic parents can never be pleased or satisfied with what anyone does. They derive joy in finding fault or mistakes in what anyone does. This is due to their own insecurities and flaws projected on someone else.
