Princess Beatrice’s wedding might just be more affected by the coronavirus pandemic than other royals.
The couple are set to marry on 29 May at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace in what was to be a ceremony of about 150 guest including family and friends but recent happenings have shaken their plans.
The Church of England has advised that during the coronavirus outbreak, attendance in church weddings be reduced to a legal minimum of five-this includes, the couple, the priest and two witnesses.
On Wednesday, a statement from the couple was released in favour of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mappelli announcing that they have cancelled their planned wedding reception in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.
The statement reads: “Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi are very much looking forward to getting married but are equally aware of the need to avoid undertaking any unnecessary risks in the current circumstances.
In line with government advice for the UK and beyond, the couple are reviewing their arrangements for 29th May. They are particularly conscious of government advice in relation to both the well being of older family members and large gatherings of people. Therefore, the planned reception in the Buckingham Palace Gardens will not take place. The couple will carefully consider government advice before deciding whether a private marriage might take place amongst a small group of family and friends.”
This will be a tough decision to make for Princess Beatrice and her fiance as they would have to choice one witness each and also considering the fact that Edoardo’s family lives in Italy, one of the highly affected countries.
