MEGHAN MARKLE’s last commitment as a working imperial saw her slip into “tears” as the Duchess of Sussex said her farewells with a “feeling of pity”, as reported by a royal columnist who was there.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle completed their last open imperial commitment with their participation of the Commonwealth Day festivities. In any case, even before the occasion at Westminster Abbey, the Duchess of Sussex met understudies and scholars from the Association of Commonwealth Universities at Buckingham Palace as her last solo obligation. He told Access: “There was a feeling of sadness and I think on the last commitment that I was there with Meghan for, it was more difficult than any other time in recent memory I think to keep that guard up.
“In fact when the students left the room we really saw her sort of bare her emotions.
“When she said goodbye to her staff there were tears, there were hugs.
“It was a warm moment but I think one that Meghan was there in a feeling of sadness as well.”
Mr Scobie proceeded: “Because she was of course later that day about to get on a plane to go home and technically never be a working royal again”
“For Meghan, saying goodbye to her staff didn’t just represent a sad ending for the relationship that they had working together, it also represented the end of her time as a working member of the Royal Family.
“The emotions were heightened, there were tears, there were hugs.”
“I think for Meghan she really appreciates the work that this very small team that’s become like a family to the couple have done for them.”
The royal commentator added: “They’ve helped them fend off the attacks and the tabloids, they’ve helped organise tours and the amazing engagements and the photos that we see around the world.”
“It’s that team that make all of that happen and so for Harry and Meghan to leave that behind that’s probably going to be a sense of fear as well.
“They will be starting with an entirely new group of people once they’re fully out of the Royal Family and that’s gonna take some time to really get used to.”
